Dean, Professor Alec Tzannes is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Graus, Director of the leading multidisciplinary firm Cox Richardson as UNSW Built Environment’s first Conjoint Professor. This is the first appointment of this type in the nation outside of Medical faculties.

This ground-breaking initiative supports UNSW Built Environment’s commitment to the delivery of leading knowledge from professional practice to enhance practice based research and provide more structured opportunities for our students to learn from well established industry leaders.

This unique initiative aims to enable UNSW Built Environment to keep abreast of industry knowledge, to further develop its curriculum so that it remains industry relevant and continues to produce career ready graduates.

Philip has already formed a sound working relationship with Professor Bill Randolph (Director of City Futures Research Centre) where together they are planning a collaborative research project. He also has strong interests in contributing to teaching in programs that include Planning, Urban Development and Design, and Architecture and has already engaged with the Director of Discipline (Planning) Associate Professor Simon Pinnegar to deliver guest lectures.

On behalf of UNSW Built Environment, I welcome Philip to our faculty as our inaugural Conjoint Professor.
