Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate Jonathan Jones has been announced the winner of Your Very Good Idea, a competition hosted by Kaldor Public Art Projects for their 45th anniversary project.

The competition invited artists to submit proposals for site-specific artworks in Sydney. Jones' project was selected from more than 160 proposals.

Jones' installation Barrangal dyara (Skin and bones) is a recreation of the skeleton of the Garden Palace, which was built in 1879 to host the Sydney International Exhibition, a world fair.

The Garden Palace was later used by a number of Government departments and was destroyed by a fire in 1882. The fire destroyed many significant records and Jones’ installation will explore the loss of indigenous cultural material.

It will be installed in the Royal Botanic Gardens in 2016.
