Congratulations to Broc Webster, winner of the Jenny Birt Award 2014 with his work Athanasia.

This year marks an 18 year milestone for the Jenny Birt Award for painting. The award was established through the original U Committee in the name of the wife of former Vice Chancellor of UNSW, Lindsay Michael Birt AO, CBE.

The Jenny Birt Award represents the major painting prize within visual arts at UNSW Art & Design.

At the award announcement on Wednesday, 19 November, Jenny Birt congratulated the winner Broc Webster and Highly Commended Jane Guthleben.

She noted the ongoing support of UNSW, the pride that her husband would have felt at the continuance of the award, and the difficult task that the high standard of candidates presented to the judging panel.

Finalists included Maximilian Daniels, Lisa McCleary, Jane Guthleben, Sarah Wyatt, Rowena Grace, Syrmathenia Nicolakis, David Ramsden and Broc Webster.
