Susan Thompson promoted to Professor of Planning

Congratulations to Susan Thompson who has been promoted to Professor today. 

Dean of UNSW Built Environment Prof Alec Tzannes says it’s a wonderful achievement.

"I am delighted to announce that Susan Thompson has been promoted to Professor, a deserved acknowledgement of her contribution to the advancement of knowledge in Planning, her commitment to teaching including her contribution to the curriculum, and translation of her research to influence policy development on the inter-relationships between planning and health.

"Her achievement will further UNSW Built Environment’s national leadership in the Planning discipline. It is also a significant milestone for the faculty being our first full female academic professorial appointment.  Susan's research was recognised by the UNSW Professorial Promotions Committee for social impact, a pathway to promotion that I anticipate will become increasingly accepted as equivalent to more conventional assessment metrics used for professorial level promotions."
