The many firsts of longstanding UNSW Built Environment alumna, Ms Anita Lawrence received special mention during a keynote address from UNSW Chancellor David Gonski AC, at the University's Bequest Donor Lunch last month.

In addition to claiming the title as UNSW Built Environment’s first female alumna, Anita Lawrence (BArch 1955, MArch 1957) was recognised for multiple “female firsts” – first class honours student, graduate in Architecture, University medallist and long serving member of UNSW staff.

Over the years, Anita’s support for the University has been significant and her legacy will continue as a result of this benevolence with a bequest to the Faculty of Built Environment; specifically in the creation of a dedicated design studio for acoustics.

The Bequest Donor Lunch took place in the Chancellery and acknowledged a diverse group of individuals willing to support the range of UNSW’s broad research and teaching initiatives via a bequest written into their will.
