Congratulations to the winners of the 63rd Blake Prize, announced at the opening of the finalists exhibition at UNSW Galleries on Saturday, 13 December. 

Melbourne-based artist Richard Lewer won the major $25,000 Blake Prize for his work Worse Luck I’m Still Here (2014). 

Worse Luck I’m Still Here (2014) is a digital video animation that tells the story of a failed suicide pact between a man and his chronically ill wife. The work explores the dilemmas surrounding euthanasia and faith.

Hedy Ritterman was awarded the The MUA Blake Prize for Human Justice for her work Richard (2014), and Emily Sandrussi won The John Coburn Emerging Artist Award for Untitled (no.7) from the series Domino Theory (2013). Dave Drayton won the 7th Blake Poetry Prize.

The winners and finalists works can be seen at UNSW Galleries until 31 January, 2015.
