Marketing Professors Roger Layton and Paul Patterson from UNSW’s Business School have been chosen by the Federal Government’s Australian Research Council to be members of the Research Evaluation Committee (REC) Committees for Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) 2015 assessment.

Professor Patterson’s research was recognised in 2013 when he received the American Marketing Association’s award for career contribution to Service Science. In 2012 he received the Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy’s Distinguished Researcher Award, and elected a Fellow of the Academy. He has been part of research teams that have won in excess of $1 million in ARC grants.

Professor Layton is the joint author of several books including Fundamentals of Marketing and Contemporary Hospitality Marketing – A Service Management Approach. His current research interests centre on macro-marketing, including strategic management in and of complex multi-level marketing systems.

ERA is a comprehensive evaluation that considers the entire output of Australian universities’ research efforts. The rigour of ERA is due to the expert interpretation of citation metrics, peer review and other indicators to make judgements about research quality.
