Owen Leong wins Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2015

Master of Fine Arts graduate Owen Leong has won the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2015.

Leong will receive $20,000 in prize money for his work Mudra, which will be acquired to the Gold Coast City Gallery Collection.

A mudra is a spiritual gesture made with the hands and fingers in Hinduism and Buddhism. In Mudra, a self-portrait, Leong is cloaked in black and reflects on his Chinese heritage as he holds his own hands cast in the forms of mudras as a gesture towards healing.

The finalists’ exhibition features work by 58 artists and is on at the Gold Coast City Gallery until 31 May, 2015.
