UNSW Art & Design graduate Ben Baxter and Ruth McDermott exhibited their new Nimbus Collection of suspended lights at Ventura Lambrate as part of the prestigious Milan Design Week 2015.

The collection is inspired by rain clouds and the effect that the setting sun has on these clouds. The Nimbus is a suspended light fitting for low ceilings made of lightweight interlocking pieces. Using LED technology, it can be programmed to create dramatic lighting effects such as rippling storms and sunset clouds.

The Nimbus collection is part of Baxter and McDermott’s ongoing practice exploring the possibilities of light and materials using the energy efficient light source of LEDs.
