Associate Professor Josef Dick has featured in an article in an Austrian newspaper, nachrichten.at.

The piece, written in German, reveals the 41-year-old's childhood penchant for counting money (not necessarily possessing money!), which led his parents to believe he would grow up to pursue banking.

Instead, as the article describes, his early pastime led to a rich and fulfilling career as a mathematician, with research focused on Monte Carlo methods.

A/Prof Dick is currently attending the 10th IMACS Seminar on Monte Carlo Methods in Linz, Austria, along with Dr Quoc Thong Le Gia, A/Prof Frances Kuo, Dr Zdravko Botev, and Alexander Gilbert. The full article can be found here.
