The Business School's Women in Leadership Research Network was launched on 8 September with warm welcomes from Guest of Honour, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Jacobs, and Professor Chris Styles, Dean of the Business School.

"The network has been established to support fresh thinking on female leadership challenges," says network leader Professor Renée Adams, the Commonwealth Bank Chair in Finance.

"We want to bring as many smart minds together as possible to examine problems female leaders are facing to offer potential solutions," she says.

The network will look at research including issues such as "Women in Finance" - which examines the impact of maths scores on gender diversity in boardrooms; "Gender Corporate Culture" -where workplace gender equality is weighed up; and "Gender Stereotype, Underconfidence and Decision making"- where effects of stereotypes on confidence and decision making are examined.

The inaugural all-day conference was led by the Head of School of Banking and Finance,  Associate Professor Jerry Parwada and Head of School of Management, Karin Sanders, and joined by members from the faculty of Law, Science, Management, Finance and Economics.

The Women in Leadership Research Network also provides funding to assist Business School PhD students to conducts research related to women in leadership and in society ranging from $1000 to $5000.
