AGSM @ UNSW Business School is a proud supporter of the Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards, an annual event committed to increasing the visibility of female leadership in Australia and highlighting the important contribution women make in creating a bold and diverse future for Australia.
At this year’s event, AGSM sponsored the Innovation Award, presented by Director, AGSM and Deputy Dean, UNSW Business School, Julie Cogin, to UNSW Australia’s Professor Veena Sahajwalla, recognised for leading research on transforming waste into new resources for industrial production.
The Global Award was also taken by UNSW Australia, with Professor Jane McAdam recognised for shaping global thinking and policy in immigration, climate change, disasters and displacement.
The gala event, held at the Sydney Town Hall on 15 October, was a true reflection of the profound impact and influence Australian women are having across business and industry in Australia.
Attended by distinguished and inspirational women from all walks of life, the awards celebrated those who have displayed exceptional character. 2014 Overall Winner, Elizabeth Broderick, summed it up well, saying that the nominees were all “people who have an impact and engage with others, through their head and their heart, to take action. They inspire others to come on board, and it’s together that a group can actually change.”
The 2015 Overall Award went to Ann Sherry, Chief Executive Officer, Carnival Australia. Ann was lauded for her sustained work to make a real difference to women and the broader community as well as her contribution to business and the arts, for which she was awarded a $5,000 AGSM Executive Education grant.
AGSM @ UNSW Business School is committed to promoting and developing the leadership skills of women in Australian business and supports women in leadership through a range of initiatives, programs and scholarships.
