Jane McAdamProfessor McAdam, Director of the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, was named one of Australia's most influential women in the 2015 Australian Financial Review and Westpac 100 Women of Influence Awards.  Professor McAdam won the global category of the competition for her work, which has been "instrumental in shaping international thinking and policy related to migration, climate change, disasters and displacement".

An ARC Future Fellow, Professor McAdam is exploring potential responses to climate-related displacement, including the feasibility of relocating entire communities, as sea levels rise and natural disasters become more commonplace.  An international leader in the field, she holds conjoint positions at the The Brookings Institution in the US and Oxford University’s Refugee Studies Centre, and has been an expert adviser to the UNHCR, the International Organisation for Migration, and the World Bank’s Thematic Working Group on Migration and Development.  Read Professor McAdam's full profile here.

We also congratulate Professor Sahajwalla, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology at UNSW, who was named winner of the innovation category for her research creating a green manufacturing revolution.
