The UNSW Built Environment are pleased to announce the following winners of the 2015 LuminoCity photo competition are:

1. Category: SUSTAINABILITY

The winner is: Jyothsna Dhileepan

Caption: The Vivid Sydney Festival has set the standard for sustainable art festivals around the world by being carbon neutral. The event is a beacon for Sydney’s artists and illuminates the creative consciousness of the city by transforming its urban spaces at night into vibrant and vivid attractions. The event completely runs on green energy, donates surplus food to charities, uses fuel efficient transport and almost entirely uses electronic marketing. The Vivid Sydney festival truly embodies the ideals of a creative and sustainable city.

2. Category: SOCIAL EQUITY

The winner is: Renee Mathers

Caption: As a human being, I’m honest, I’m passionate, I’m courageous, I’m disciplined, I have a concentrated mind. I’m compassionate, I’m aware. Our built environment should reflect our values, our social conscience and our humanity.

3. Category: POPULARITY

The winner is: Adrienne Daryn Cheng

Caption: SS Ayrfield was built for World War II and served to bring destruction. But now, it hosts life. A sustainable city makes use of the old by recreating its purpose and meets the needs of the present without sacrificing the needs of the future.
