Professor Kevin Fox was elected as a member of the
Policy and Advocacy Committee of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia at the Academy’s Annual General Meeting on the 18th of November. At the same meeting Professor Fox was also elected as a member of the Academy’s Panel B Committee.
The Academy’s Policy and Advocacy Committee is Australia’s premier forum for providing social science insights and recommendations to government. Its principal responsibility is to strengthen the social sciences' role in the development of policy issues and providing advice to government. The Policy and Advocacy Program conducts policy roundtables with academics and Government, and produces papers that inform policy.
The appointment of Professor Fox is a great achievement for the Centre for Applied Economic Research (CAER) and the UNSW Business School, recognizing Professor Fox’s long-established expertise and role in high-level policy relevant research. The appointment facilitates access to an avenue through which UNSW Business School researchers can be active participants in providing advice to government on the planning, developing and implementation of policy.
