We are very proud to share the news that Associate Professor Chris Tisdell has just been awarded a UNSW 2015 Staff Excellence Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion.

UNSW Australia Staff Excellence Awards reward the outstanding and valuable contribution of staff to the success of UNSW in achieving its strategic priorities. Staff are recognised for fostering inclusivity, productivity and innovation, strengthening ties with the community and ensuring that UNSW remains a responsible global citizen.

The Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion was developed to reward contributions made by staff whose initiatives have fostered an inclusive work environment. This includes activities that support the access, participation and success of Indigenous Australians; people with a disability; women in disciplines, professions or roles in which they are under-represented; people with family or carer responsibilities; people from culturally/linguistically diverse backgrounds; and people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer.

The Award boasts a cash prize of $2,000.

A/Prof Tisdell was announced winner at the UNSW Staff Excellence Awards Reception last week.

In congratulating A/Prof Tisdell, Head of School Bruce Henry said, "This is a wonderful honour that celebrates the valuable work that Chris has done in taking mathematics education to the masses through YouTube videos and e-books."

This isn't the first time that A/Prof Tisdell, who is Associate Dean (Education) of UNSW Science, has been awarded for his contributions to UNSW.

In 2012 he won a UNSW Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Late last year, he was presented with an Award for Teaching Excellence in the Australian Awards for University Teaching for his sustained commitment and contribution to teaching.

A very big congratulations to Chris on his latest achievement!
