The 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) results were released last week.

ERA is a comprehensive quality evaluation of all research produced in Australian universities against national and international benchmarks. The ratings are determined and moderated by committees of distinguished researchers, drawn from Australia and overseas.

The 2015 evaluation bestowed upon us the highest score, "well above world standard" in overall mathematical sciences, pure mathematics, and statistics. We received "above world standard" for applied mathematics.

The ERA scoring system is as folllows: 1 - well below world standard; 2 - below world standard; 3 - world standard; 4 - above world standard; 5 - well above world standard.

Commenting upon the 2015 results, Head of School Professor Bruce Henry said, "This is an excellent result that we can all be proud of".
