I would like to welcome and congratulate you on your acceptance into the UNSW Business School. We really do understand just how hard you worked to achieve this goal, and you should feel very proud of your achievements.

You and 2500 other students that commenced studies this week have joined our elite community of about 15,000 current students and over 75,000 alumni around the world who have achieved success in their diverse career paths – as entrepreneurs, business leaders or academics.

You will find yourself surrounded here at the Business School by incredible people engaged in innovative research and ground breaking learning & teaching: staff who are thought-leaders in their fields and students who are the business leaders of tomorrow.

Learning is not just about listening to others. Applying your knowledge and skills is equally important – solving problems, working in teams, debating and developing your own ideas. We strongly encourage you to take a practical and proactive approach to your own learning, and take part in the many rewarding experiences outside the classroom – including leadership development and networking, student clubs and campus events.

Recently, we’ve been encouraging students to not just wonder “why?” but to ask “why not?” This question is the starting point for bold, imaginative, innovative thinking that challenges the status quo and looks for new and better ways to do things. This is our guiding principle at UNSW Business School – Where Great Minds Do Business.

Best of luck in your studies and be sure to make the most of the opportunities available to you. It’s great to have you here at the Business School.
