The School of Mathematics and Statistics is the largest in Australia and a major centre of research in the mathematical sciences. The School has notable strengths in fundamental research right through to cutting edge applications.
The Department of Applied Mathematics within the School has a vigorous postgraduate research program and an outstanding record in attracting external research support. It also operates an extensive visitors’ program for fostering research collaboration. Its academic staff members provide specialist teaching in Applied Mathematics at all undergraduate levels (including honours) and perform a major part of the School’s service teaching.
