Welcome to our new PhD students

Last week we held an event to welcome our new PhD students for Semester 1 2016.
15 new arrivals have joined the ranks (full list below), with seven among them familiar faces. Raveen de Silva, Gurtek Gill, Edward Mcdonald, Thomas Stindl, Dominic Vella, Thomas Whitaker, and Ramanan Rajkumar are all former Honours students of the School. This is the largest intake of PhD students that we have had in recent memory, possibly ever!
PG Research Director David Warton announced and welcomed the new members of the cohort, as students both old and new socialised over drinks.
Members of the PG Seminar Committee, Jeremy Nugent, Anna McGann and Gennady Notowidigdo, informed the newbies of the key upcoming events of the year and encouraged their involvement.
June's Annual Postgraduate Conference was discussed, and some students were overheard plotting a takedown of the Staff team at the highly anticipated Staff Vs. Students soccer re-match.
