Professor Jacob Goeree is to join UNSW Business School in the School of Economics from mid-July 2016.

Professor Goeree is the Business School’s first appointment through the University’s new SHARP Committee process, and reflects UNSW’s commitment to academic excellence which is a cornerstone of the 2025 strategy.

Professor Chris Styles, Dean of the UNSW Business School, said “Professor Goeree is a world-renowned experimenter, theorist, and market designer with an outstanding track record. He has written 2 books and 72 articles in prestigious outlets including Nature, American Economic Review and Econometrica.”

“He is one of the very few Australia based Fellows of Econometric Society - the most prestigious international association in Economics. He has been awarded over $12m in research funding, including the equivalent of an ARC Laureate Fellowship in Europe. He will play an important part in achieving our ambitious goals under academic excellence, as well as social engagement and global impact.”

He is currently the director of the interdisciplinary Centre for Policy and Market Design at UTS, and is advising NSW Fisheries on design for fishing licenses.
