As UNSW Galleries prepares for a new season of shows, our current exhibition will tonight (Thursday, 4 August) go out a high.

Don’t miss the closing party for the ground-breaking exhibition, The Patient, this evening from 5pm – 7pm in UNSW Galleries.

To mark the occasion three events are scheduled to take place.

The Book Launch

UNSW Art & Design researcher and lecturer, Dr Linsday Kelly explores how the experience of eating changes when technologies are introduced, and at times, consumed. Her latest book, Bioart Kitchen: Art, Feminism and Technoscience, featuring recipes from Kelley’s legendary experimental Bio-Art Kitchen workshops, will be launched tonight.

The Catalogue Release & Ceremony

UNSW Art & Design PhD Candidate and curator of the exhibition The Patient: The Medical Subject in Contemporary Art, Bec Dean, will tonight release the associated catalogue and will close the exhibition with a ending ceremony performed by Australian celebrant, Victoria Spence.

The Performance

American photographer and performance artist, Sheree Rose – known for her extraordinary body of work done with collaborator and life partner from 1952 until his death in 1996, Bob Flanagan – will perform An Ending with fellow performance artist, Fiona McGregor.

This performance is confronting and includes material viewers may find disturbing. Please contact UNSW Galleries for more details on +61 2 8936 0888.
