In what has been hailed as a new model of giving, SJB have founded scholarships of equal value with the two major universities they share cities with, UNSW in Sydney’s Kensington and The University of Melbourne in Parkville.

Both scholarships pledge a total of $15,000 to each university allowing them to award $5,000 to one student per year for three years. The purpose of the scholarship at UNSW Built Environment is to award a high achieving final year student who is undertaking full-time study in the Interior Architecture degree.

Kirsten Stanisich, Director of Interior Design in SJB’s Sydney Office said, “The quality of the graduates from your [UNSW] interior school are incredibly valued by SJB and they continue to raise the bar of professionalism for interior designers. It really is a great honour to be able to make some sort of contribution to this.”

According to Bruce Watson, Director, UNSW Interior Architecture degree, many of our best graduates have found employment at SJB and have worked on a whole range of projects such as heritage, public, retail and multi residential whilst working with a team who have been awarded many times both collectively and individually.

“The Bachelor of Interior Architecture (honours) program at UNSW Built Environment is proud to have established, over the past 10 years, a rich relationship with SJB who have supported the UNSW Biult Environment educational experience by providing design studio tutelage and professional comment in the form of final design studio project assessment. They have also generously supported our Graduation Exhibitions as key sponsors for many years. Many of our best graduates have also started their design careers at SJB. Our degree would not be what it is without support from SJB.”

UNSW Built Environment Interior Architecture students are able to apply for the first SJB Scholarship from 30th September 2016 with applications closing on 31st October 2017.
