The student roundtable at the AILA festival.

Five UNSW Landscape Architecture Students participated in the Student Roundtable at the AILA Festival in Canberra in late October. Students Mia Thornton; Kassandra Cottee, Don Do, Deborah Pearce, Ben Roberts spent a day with students from seven other Landscape Architecture Programs to review and discuss the conference themes. A panel of students, including Ben Roberts from UNSW, presented the concluding discussion at the Festival.

Associate Professor Linda Corkery and Lecturer Sara Padgett Kjaersgaard were elected to the AILA National Board in September. At the first meeting of the new board at the Festival, Associate Professor Linda Corkery was voted National President and Chair of the Board, and Sara continues in her role as Company Secretary. Congratulations to both!

A team of seven, all with ties to UNSW, have been appointed as the Creative Directorate for the 2017 AILA Festival, which will be in Sydney in October. The team are UNSW Built Environment Dean, Professor Helen Lochhead, Director of Discipline for Landscape Architecture, Catherine Evans, Senior Lecturer Katrina Simon, Lecturer Sara Padgett Kjaersgaard, Lecturer Mike Harris, Lecturer Scott Hawken and alumni Mark Tyrrell of Tyrrell Studios. The theme will be Shifting Territories.
