Scott Sisson

We are delighted to announce that Scott Sisson has been promoted to Professor.

Scott, whose research is in computational statistics, is the current President of the Statistical Society of Australia, and is also a CI of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers.

In 2015, he won the G N Alexander Medal (joint with F. Zheng, S. Westra and M. Leonard) for the best paper in the previous 18 months in Hydrology Water Resources Publications of the Institution of Engineers Australia. In 2011 he was recipient of the Moran Medal (joint with Dr. M. M. Tanaka). The year prior he won both the J. G. Russell Award and an ARC Queen Elizabeth II Research Fellowship.

Of Scott's promotion, effective 1 January 2017, Head of School Bruce Henry said, "The standards for promotion to Professor at UNSW are extremely high... Scott is especially recognised for his outstanding research in Statistics".
