Shane Keating

We are proud to report that Dr Shane Keating has been announced a winner of a 2016 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence for Contributions to Student Learning.

Dr Keating will be presented with his award, which Vice-Chancellor Ian Jacobs referred to as a "fine achievement", at a ceremony at UNSW in 2017.

Dr Keating has worked at the School of Mathematics and Statistics since early 2013. During that time, he has not only built a reputation as a popular lecture among his students, but he has been a valued member of the School's Publicity Committee, and he has been heavily involved in the School's online activities. In a School first, he even developed one of our courses into an online format - receiving impressive feedback for his efforts.

In congratulating Dr Keating, Head of School Bruce Henry said: "Shane is an inspiring teacher and he has done outstanding work in developing and teaching an online engineering mathematics course, which has been received well by students".

Dr Keating says he is "thrilled" at the news, deeming it "a lovely way to finish the year."

Congratulations to Shane on this very well-deserved achievement!
