Zdravko Botev wins Best Theoretical Paper at Winter Simulation Conference

We are delighted to report that Dr Zdravko Botev has won an award for "Best Theoretical Paper" at the Winter Simulation Conference in Washington, D.C.

Dr Botev won the award jointly with Ad Ridder (Vrije Universiteit) for their paper, "An M-estimator for Rare-event Probability Estimation".

The Winter Simulation Conference is a four-day international forum for disseminating recent advances in the field of system simulation. Dr Botev's paper was one of three presented during a Rare-Event Simulation session, which was also chaired by Dr Botev.

The award has rounded off a strong year for Dr Botev, who was promoted to Senior Lecturer in July. He was also recipient of an Early Career Research Grant, which he has now been awarded for four years in a row.
