Prestigious Scientia Doctoral scholarship awarded for study at CSRH

A prestigious Scientia Doctoral scholarship has been awarded to Sujith Kumar for a study of sexual citizenship and belonging among young LGBTQ minority ethnic Australian citizens and residents.
His study will parallel an existing Australian Research Council supported project looking at belonging and sexual citizenship among gender and sexual minority youth led by Professor Peter Aggleton. Peter and Dr Joanne Bryant will be Sujith’s supervisors.
Sujith’s academic background lies in communications, human rights, gender and religion. In 2012, he co-founded The Purple Alliance, a group focusing on increasing access to medical and social support for LGBTQ individuals in Singapore.
