QS World subject rankings good for UNSW Business School
UNSW Business School has solidified its place among the world’s leading business schools.

UNSW Business School has solidified its place among the world’s leading business schools, following the release of with QS World University Rankings which placed Accounting and Finance at UNSW among the top 11 in the world.
Professor Chris Styles, Dean of UNSW Business School, said the ranking reflected the business school’s research output as well as reputation for career focused education amongst both academics and employers.
“The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017 have shown a jump for UNSW Business School, largely because our research informs both academic and business thinking around the world and our connections and impact are global. We are particularly pleased that the business school achieved such strong rankings across all the disciplines we cover,” Professor Styles said.
The QS subject ranking, released today, is based on reputation surveys, research citations and a research impact measure. Within Business School related disciplines, it only ranks Accounting and Finance, Business & Management, and Economics.
Accounting & Finance has advanced two places to 11, Business & Management has gone up one spot to 23, while Economics & Econometrics moving 6 places up to 32.
“This is really great news,” said Professor Jerry T. Parwada, Head of the School of Banking & Finance. “The contribution of the school of Banking and Finance to the number one ranking in the Accounting and Finance category bears testimony to the strategic shift that we have made over the past six years and are consolidating under the UNSW Sydney Strategy 2025.”
“Virtually all our 43-strong faculty have committed to achieving this outcome in the critical areas of research, learning and teaching, and external engagement and leadership. The current QS ranking is consistent with our placing on other international rankings that confirm our school as one of the top finance schools in the Asia-Pacific region and in the top 40 globally.”
