HDA participants
The 7th Workshop on High Dimensional Approximation (HDA) was hosted at UNSW from 13-17 February.

The workshop welcomed more than 70 participants and held a total of 49 talks. Participants hailed from 22 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam

The workshop marked the tragic passing of Scientific Committee member Professor Jonathan Borwein. In 2009, at the same workshop at UNSW, Prof Borwein presented a very interesting and entertaining talk.

The workshop also celebrated the 65th birthday of Professor Markus Hegland, a founding member of the HDA workshop series, and a well respected leader in computational mathematics and optimization in Australia.

The HDA Workshop is a series of biennial international meetings covering current research on all numerical aspects of high-dimensional problems. The scope of the seventh workshop ranged from high-dimensional approximation theory
