A rapidly growing list of signatories are adding their support to the Statement of Commitment to Ecocentrism, including noted environmental activist David Suzuki, eminent environmental philosiphers such as Prof Michael Nelson, Prof Baird Callicott, Dr Patrick Curry and Prof Kathleen Dean Moore, and environmental scientists such as Prof. Reed Noss and Ted Mosquin.

The statement, developed by Dr Haydn Washington and an international team of enviroinmental scholars, takes issue with anthropocentrism within academica and advocates ecocentrism as the pathway to a sustainable future.

The issue is dicussed in detail in their new paper, due to be published in June in the inaugural issue of Ecological Citizen (although you can view it here).
