UNSW Business School’s auditing research has been ranked number one in the world for the last 12 years according to a leading research indicator.

The BYU rankings are based on peer reviewed articles published in 12 leading international accounting research journals for the last six years, twelve years and all years since 1990.

Associate Dean (Research), Professor James Morley said, “The BYU rankings for Accounting show that UNSW has solidified its place as one of the top universities globally for Auditing, Experimental Accounting, and Managerial Accounting. I’m so pleased that we are in the top 10 worldwide for all three of those fields, including being ranked #1 in the world in Auditing. And it is fantastic to see that we’ve moved up to equal 4th in the world overall for publications in the last 6 years.

Over “all publications” (the 12 accounting journals used) UNSW is ranked equal 4th in the world for the last 6 years.

For ‘Experimental Accounting’, UNSW is ranked third in the world for the last 12 years and ninth in the world (for the last 6 years) in ‘Managerial Accounting’.

Professor Morley added, “Auditing and Assurance is one of the official research strengths of UNSW Business School and this result reflects our strong performance in that area. I congratulate, in particular, all the members of our Auditing and Assurance Research Network who contributed to this result.”

“I also congratulate everyone at UNSW who published in the elite journals identified by BYU for this great achievement in terms of rankings.”
