CareerCast's annual Best Job rankings have just been released, and, much to our delight, "Statistician" has been ranked the number one job for 2017.

Data Scientist trailed close behind at fifth best job, and mathematician came in at seventh.

Regarding statistician's number one ranking, CareerCast says, "As the world becomes more quantitative and data-focused, mathematics takes center stage... Applying the Jobs Rated criteria - evaluating income, growth outlook, stress and environmental factors - this hot field ranked No. 1."

CareerCast claims that employment as a statistician is set to jump by 34% in the coming seven years, and revealed that demand for statistical skills span a variety of industries, including marketing, banking, government, sports, retail, and healthcare.
