A leading global ranking has put UNSW Business School among the world’s top 10 for Finance and Accounting, and placed it number 1 in Australia.

The ranking strongly reinforces the recent announcement by another leading indicator, the QS World University Rankings, which listed Accounting and Finance at number 11 in the world.

“Our number 1 rank in Australia and top 10 in the world for Finance and Accounting is great news for our Business School,” said UNSW Business School Dean, Professor Chris Styles.

“To be in the company of New York University (NYU), Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is recognition of the calibre of our academic staff. Students of accounting and finance at our Business School can be confident that what they are being taught is at the cutting edge of accounting, auditing and finance theory and practice.”

The ShanghaiRanking’s global ranking of academic subjects compared more than 1400 universities from 80 countries, in 52 subjects across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences.

UNSW was only one of two worldwide (the other was Ohio State University – Columbus) to be ranked across 50 subjects.

“In other business-related subjects, UNSW was ranked in the 51-75 band in Management (equal 1st with Melbourne among Australian universities), and in the 51-75 band in Economics and in Business Administration.”
