We are proud to announce that postdoctoral research fellow Casimir de Lavergne and Scientia Professor Trevor McDougall have had an article accepted into Nature.

The article was co-authored with Dr Ryan Holmes from UNSW's Climate Change Research Centre, and two recent visitors to UNSW, Fabien Roquet and Gurvan Madec.

Titled "Abyssal ocean overturning shaped by seafloor distribution", the paper is currently in press.

Casimir de Lavergne joined the UNSW School of Mathematics and Statistics in 2016. He completed his PhD in physical oceanography at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris.

Sci Prof Trevor McDougall, a Fellow of the Royal Society of London who joined the School in 2012, is one of the world's leading oceanographers.
