Farewell
This was a special event for the School, to thank and farewell our colleagues and friends Flory Alviola, Mary Hervir, Jan Lin, and Susannah Waters.
Flory, Mary, Jan, and Susannah were truly the heart and soul of our School, actively transforming our School into a warm and welcoming family. Through their tireless and expert professionalism, they lifted the whole School, boosting our finances, teaching, and research to make our School the #1 Maths department in Australia now four years running. Through award-winning talent, they endowed the School with prominent presence that is noticed both in Australia
and around the world. The superb and superbly efficient services of Flory, Mary, Jan, and Susannah will not be possible to replicate or emulate; the university is lesser for this loss.
During this farewell, there were heartfelt speeches full of love and gratitude, tears, anger and sorrow. After followed an evening of hugs, drinks and nostalgic laughter.
Those of us who remain will deeply miss Flory, Mary, Jan, and Susannah. They will always remain part of the School's family and we will watch with great interest from afar as they excel in the next stages of their lives.
