Congratulations to Professor Bruce Hebblewhite, awarded the 2017 Award for Rock Mechanics from Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME).

SME is the largest mining professional society in the world, with this Award acknowledging Bruce for his significant contribution as an educator, researcher and consultant in mine rock mechanics and ground control.

Bruce is a Professor of Mining Engineering at the School of Mining Engineering at UNSW. Specialising in mining geomechanics, underground mine design and planning, Bruce has over forty years international mining industry experience including his former roles as Mining Division Manager for ACIRL Ltd and Head of School, Mining Engineering at UNSW.

This award continues to recognise Bruce as a leading figure in the Australian and International mining arena.

The School of Mining Engineering is very proud of Bruce for this achievement. The award was presented at the 2018 SME annual meeting by Ms Jami Girard-Dwyer, 2018 Chair of the Mining & Exploration Division of SME on Tuesday 27 February in Minneapolis, USA.
