A great space or arrangement can really help remarkable objects and architecture shine. UNSW Art & Design alumni Nathan Yong has had his modernist bed included in the new 2018 range from Design Within Reach (alongside products by Eames, Saarinen, Le Corbusier and Herman Miller).
This new range has gone on display at the iconic Stahl House, a modernist classic Case Study home designed by Pierre Koenig. Perched upon a cliff in the Hollywood Hills overlooking Los Angeles, the Stahl House is perhaps most famous from a photograph by renowned architecture lensman Julius Shulman. In 2016, Time Magazine included the photo in its list of the 100 Most Influential Images of All Time. The building itself is one of the most recognisable houses in the United States, and the inclusion of Yong’s bed is the most recent in a series of design highlights for the creatively and commercially successful Singapore-based designer, including a range of marble furniture pieces produced within collaboration with Star Wars.
In keeping with the agreement upon which the Case Study homes were originally built, Stahl House is open to the public, and anyone can book tours through the Stahl House website.
