The Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) has introduced a new scholarship for current and former Australian Defence Force personnel to study a Full-Time MBA. The AGSM Military Leadership Excellence Scholarships will be awarded to an eligible student accepted into the 2019 Full-Time MBA program.

This scholarship is open to current and former Australian Defence Force members, who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, as they progress their military career or transition into their next career. Both full and partial fee-waiver scholarships are available.

Timothy Willetts, a long-serving member of the Australian military and recipient of the 2018 AGSM Military Scholarship, said: "I am extremely proud of the value that AGSM places on our serving military personnel in offering this new scholarship. The Military Leadership Excellence Award will enable more military personal to benefit from the business leadership tools AGSM provides, building upon the complex adaptive leadership skills candidates already possess through their military training."

AGSM enjoys a great reputation for developing veterans into successful business leaders and entrepreneurs, and many of these graduates continue to act as mentors for future scholarship recipients.

Dr Michele Roberts, Academic Director at AGSM @ UNSW Business School, said: "The scholarship offers current and former military personnel the chance to join a world class cohort in Australia's top ranked MBA program, in order to further their skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork, negotiation, strategy, data analysis and decision making. Our previous military scholars have also benefitted from studying part of their MBA at one of our partner schools, including Chicago Booth, Kellogg, London Business School, NYU Stern, Wharton and Yale".

Phil Hayes-St Clair (AGSM MBA 2014), Entrepreneur and Product Strategist, stated that his MBA experience helped tailor his military leadership skills and gain crucial academic knowledge to become a successful entrepreneur within the Australian business market.

"The world relies on inspired leadership to enact change and people with military experience are among the best leaders in the world. If we combine these skills with the high-calibre business education offered at AGSM, military MBA students can go on to make a real difference in the business community."

Full and partial tuition fee waivers are available, and eligible candidates are automatically considered for this scholarship after receiving an offer of admission to AGSM Full-Time MBA program.
