University lecturers present in a classroom.

The second session of summer workshops of the Forefront of Social Policy was held in Renmin University of China from the 25th to 27th of July.

The workshop was jointly organised by the School of Social and Population Studies of Renmin University of China and the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC) with the theme of Anti-Poverty Policy.

Bingqin Li, Yuvisthi Naidoo and Jen Skattebol of SPRC gave keynote speeches discussing poverty measurement methods, child poverty and development, science and technology development and poverty introducing perspectives and methods of international poverty research.

More than 70 teachers and students from various universities and research institutes across the country participated in the workshop.

Other guest speakers included Huang Jianliang, deputy dean of the School of Social and Population Studies at Renmin University of China as well as Professor Wang Sangui, President of the China Institute of Poverty Alleviation at Renmin University of China, Dr. Li Min, chief expert of public policy of Jingdong Group, Professor Tang Min, Senator of the State Council Counselor and Miao Qing, Secretary General of the Friends of the Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.
