In an incredible achievement for an 18 year old, UNSW Law and Psychology student and Ben Lexcen scholar, Matilda McDonell, took the court for her first Super Netball match. Having recently finished the Australian 19 & Under National Netball Championships with a silver medal as well as inclusion in the Australian pathway squad, Matilda now adds a Super Netball cap to her already impressive resume.
Unfortunately it was a second straight loss for the Giants, however McDonell showed that she is certainly one to watch for the future, finishing with four deflections and a pick up in her 15 minutes on court.
With weekly training on Australian Diamonds captain Caitlin Bassett and England Roses star Jo Harten, McDonell is sure to improve even more and see more court time in the very near future.
