Seventeen UNSW Canberra alumni were recognised for their contribution to Australian society in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours, including UNSW Canberra Professor Tom Frame.

Professor Frame, Director of UNSW Canberra’s Public Leadership Research Group received the honour of a Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division for significant service to higher education, to the Anglican Church of Australia, and to the community.

Six alumni, including Group Captain Patrick Cooper, Commodore Darron Kavanagh, Wing Commander Scott Parry, Colonel Katherine Sowry, Warrant Officer Gary Wight and Commodore Malcolm Wise, received the honour of a Member of Australia in the Military Division.

Dr Alan Dupont, a 1971 graduate, received the honour of Officer (AO) in the General Division for distinguished service to the international community through security analysis and strategic policy development.

The graduates were among 106 members of the wider UNSW community included on the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

UNSW President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Jacobs congratulated honourees from the UNSW community.

“We are incredibly proud of the University students, staff and alumni recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours,” said Professor Jacobs.

“It is a wonderful acknowledgment of the contributions members of the UNSW community make toward the betterment of our society here in Australia and across the world through inspiring leadership in their respective field. I congratulate all who have been honoured.”
