The L’Oréal Girls in Science Forum is a collaborated event run between L’Oréal Australia and UNSW aimed at encouraging high school girls to consider studying Science subjects in both their HSC & tertiary education, with the view to eventually pursue a career in Science.

The forum consisted of a panel of 5 early career scientists who have been awarded with a L’Oréal Fellowship grant. They each get some time to share their stories & talk about their current research, which was followed by an open panel Q&A from the audience.

The students then headed over to the UNSW Science Expo where BABS and other Science Schools hosted interactive demonstrations & activities & had inspiring conversations about our research and what it is like to study at BABS. At the BABS desk, students got to extract Strawberry DNA and check out glow in the dark bacteria!

The students also enjoyed additional organised activities such as Science Campus tours and a series of talks on UNSW Science Degrees and Science Career Paths.

We hope the students enjoyed their time at UNSW & we are looking forward until next year!
