UNSW Business School has launched Australia's first fully online postgraduate program in financial technology (FinTech). The Master of Financial Technology is delivered by UNSW Online and responds to significant employer demand for FinTech professionals who possess the right combination of finance and technology expertise.

The program is designed by Australia's top-ranked school of Banking and Finance in collaboration with industry leaders. UNSW Business School is currently ranked 1st in Australia and 15th worldwide for Accounting and Finance topics*.

Program Director Luis Goncalves-Pinto says the online Master of Financial Technology program is designed for ambitious working professionals who are familiar with the finance industry – specifically, those with a finance background who want to improve their technical skills, as well as those with a technical background who are looking to develop potential applications in the financial services industry.

"This program will encourage students to innovate, evaluate, communicate and implement new ideas involving data and technology. It can ultimately prepare them to capitalise on opportunities in the growing FinTech industry," he says.

Courses within the program are underpinned by ethical and governance considerations and are taught through hands-on experiences and applied learning. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of FinTech topics including start-up management, tech disruption, tech tools, data management, robo-advisory and portfolio optimisation.

There is the option to graduate early with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. Students who complete the full Master program will develop their own applied FinTech project, which will be eligible for entry in the Outstanding FinTech Project Award. This award will be sponsored by industry, recognising the most creative and innovative Fintech project produced by students of the Master of FinTech program.
