20th Biennial Computational Techniques & Applications Conference held online

We were pleased to host the 20th Biennial Computational Techniques and Applications Conference (CTAC2020) at the School of Mathematics and Statistics from 30 August to 2 Sep 2020.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, CTAC2020 was conducted online via Zoom. There were eight invited talks, 81 contributed talks (which included 33 presentations from students) and 136 registered participants from across Australia (NSW, ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia) and overseas (USA, U.K., Canada, Italy, France, Japan, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Germany Norway, Nepal, India, Turkey, Kuwait, Nigeria).

The invited talks were delivered by David Harvey (UNSW), Aretha Teckentrup (University of Edinburg, UK), Kate Smith-Miles (University of Melbourne), Catherine Powell (University of Manchester),  Alex Townsend (Cornell University, USA), Konstantin Brenner (University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, France) and Michael Feischl (TU Vienna, Austria).  The public lecture was given by Trevor McDougall (UNSW).

The conference covered a wide range of topics in computational mathematics, optimisation, mathematical modelling, data science, machine learning, biomathematics, approximation theory, climate modelling, computational fluid dynamics, data assimilation, and uncertainty quantification.

CTAC2020 was generously supported by the School of Mathematics and Statistics, UNSW Sydney, the NSW Government, Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand (MSSANZ) and Mathematics of Computation and Optimisation (MoCaO) special interest group of Australian Mathematical Society.
