Not the greatest start to the season for first grade, not able to get the first up win over Sydney. Universities won the toss and sent Sydney in, where they got off to a great start before the wickets started falling. Kiah Martin was the pick of the bowlers for Universities, picking up 2/17 from her four overs. Universities restricted Sydney to 123, which looked like a chaseable total, but unfortunately they weren't able to capitalise. Erica James (38) and Zoe Benjamin (32) set a solid platform, but a slow scoring rate hurt them and they finished at 2/93 after their 20 overs.

Halfway through a two day game, UNSW have a battle ahead of them in first grade this weekend, chasing a total of 375 set by UTS North Sydney. There were some good early wickets, but UTS captain Justin Avendano had a huge game, scoring 161 to put his team in the box seat to win the match. Adrian Isherwood (3/105) was UNSW's highest wicket taker while Declan White (2/55) did his best to limit the damage in the run scoring. They will resume this Saturday and look to start fast and hard to chase down the big total.

It's been a fantastic start to their title defence and they will go into their bye round this weekend feeling very confident about the season ahead. Our Raiders men's team, having started the season with a bye, were raring to go and also had a huge win over Western Sydney Pirates. They have a big game coming up this weekend against the undefeated Northern Sydney Rebels.
