A second win on the trot for a rampaging Universities first grade team this weekend. After losing the toss, Universities were sent in and, spearheaded by WBBL stars Maddy Darke (46) and Carly Leeson (29), piled on 164 runs, ably assisted by some late hitting from Erica James (31). In reply, Sydney looked to make quick runs but Leeson was at her devastating best with the ball, taking 5/19 from her 10 overs, including getting superstar Sammy-Jo Johnson for a duck. Jade Allen (4/33) was brilliant in support, while Darke took three catches at keeper, all off the bowling of Leeson. It was an important and momentum-building win and Universities will look to continue this strong run of form into the remainder of the season.

Halfway through a two day game and UNSW's first grade team are in a strong position, after bowling Sutherland out for 215. Hayden McLean (4/42) was the pick of the bowlers, with great support from Djali Bloomfield (3/34) and Declan White (2/44). In return UNSW were able to start their innings on the first day, squeezing in two overs to finish on 0/5 with both openers, Suffan Hassan and Jack Attenborough, to return to the crease to continue this weekend. In the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup, UNSW put on a huge performance without their MBBL stars to defeat their more favoured opponents, Sydney. UNSW won the toss and sent Sydney in and then set about demolishing their batting line, restricting them to 9/129 from their 20 overs. It was a team effort with the ball, as Adrian Isherwood, Djali Bloomfield and Declan White took two wickets each. Brimming with confidence, UNSW went in to bat, with openers Thomas Scoble (26) and Jack Attenborough (24) setting the stage, before captain Brandon McLean came in to blast 41 and set up the win inside 19 overs. They now take on Gordon in a preliminary final this weekend.
