UNSW Canberra has unveiled the Draft Master Plan for its new City campus and Canberrans are invited to have their say on the project.

The UNSW Canberra City campus will rejuvenate the east of Canberra’s CBD with tree-lined boulevards, striking sustainable buildings, public parks and world-leading research facilities

The Draft Master Plan informs the design vision, outlining how the campus will enhance and enliven the precinct, while paying homage to the history of the area.

Positioned along Constitution Avenue and Coranderrk Street, UNSW Canberra City campus will be an open, active and vibrant green campus, which will reflect and strengthen the values of the surrounding community.

The UNSW Canberra City campus aims to be world-class research, education and innovation campus in the heart of Canberra

It will further grow the city’s reputation as Australia’s education and innovation capital by leveraging Canberra’s existing research, technology and government ecosystem.

The precinct will expand local higher education opportunities with post-graduate and professional programs, as well establishing an innovative defence and security precinct modelled on UNSW Canberra’s successful Launch on Northbourne initiative.

In addition to its education and research outputs, the campus will be designed to host industry and entrepreneurs in a vibrant, connected environment. This will provide students with the opportunity to learn, research, mentor and work with some of the most innovative defence and technology start-ups in the country.

Once complete, UNSW Canberra City will welcome about 6,000 students and is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs locally, including opportunities for local businesses, such as on-site restaurants and cafes.

Community consultation on the draft master plan is open until 1 March 2021. Have your say via the UNSW Canberra City website
