Welcome Downer and LandPartners to our Industry Partner Program.

The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering is delighted to welcome two new partners - integrated services provider Downer, and surveying and planning consultancy LandPartners to our Industry Partner Program. We are hopeful that our new connections will prove fruitful for our wonderful students, both current and future.

Downer is a leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand, with a strong focus on Urban Services – Transport, Utilities, Facilities and Asset Services. Downer supports customers through the full life of their assets - from initial feasibility and design through to production and operations and eventual decommissioning. With a history dating back over 150 years, Downer Group employs approximately 44,000 people across more than 300 sites, primarily in Australia and New Zealand.

Downer has access to best practice processes and technology from around the world in fields including reality capture, digital prototyping and building information modelling (BIM). And it has strong in-house engineering and trade capabilities across civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Ashleigh Holt, Downer’s Head of Recruitment and Sourcing says that “Downer are thrilled to partner with UNSW for their Industry Partners Program. Providing a gateway for graduates to companies like Downer is a significant opportunity for both counterparts. We look forward to exploring the many possibilities UNSW provide.”

LandPartners is a highly regarded multi-disciplinary consultancy that works in partnership with its clients to deliver landmark and award-winning projects in the construction, property development, infrastructure, oil and gas industries throughout Australia.

With 120 staff in Sydney and Brisbane and utilising the latest survey technologies, LandPartners provides services including Surveying & Titling, Mapping & GIS, Planning & Urban Design, Reality Capture & 3D Modelling and Utility Mapping.

LandPartners’ Human Resources Manager Anne Boulton says that the company is “excited to have joined the CVEN IPP as we see real value in encouraging school students to study STEM and consider careers such as Surveying.

We also see the partnership as a great way to connect with UNSW Surveying students and begin a conversation about the career and development opportunities we have to offer. LandPartners has built a business that has many long serving employees, a tight knit team and diverse range of interesting work and clients. This means we can provide a rich experience foundation for students and graduates.”

About the CVEN Industry Partners Program.

The support of industry partners helps the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering’s outreach programs to connect with potential future students in primary and high schools. This includes our very successful Primary School Maths Prize which promotes the importance of maths for an exciting engineering career, and Year 10 Engineering Work Experience Week which offers young people from around the state the chance to experience a wide range of civil  environmental and geospatial engineering projects, sites and activities.

Program funds are also used to run events that link our undergraduates with our Industry Partners, such as careers markets, elite student industry breakfasts, career information events, and other student focused events.

Interested industry colleagues should contact Dr Kurt Douglas (k.douglas@unsw.edu.au) for further information about the CVEN Industry Partners Program.
