UNSW School of Civil & Environmental Engineering’s legendary student body CEVSOC recently hosted their 2022 First Year Camp (FYC) on a weekend in March.
FYC is an opportunity for first year civil, environmental engineering and surveying students to connect with their peers and gain some valuable advice from older students on how to excel in uni.
“The energy of the new first years was above expectation and we had an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the camp. After camp, we had many first-year students interested in getting more involved in CEVSOC and keen to come to our events. This was particularly demonstrated by the substantial increase in first year subcommittee applications that we received compared to 2021.
“It was very rewarding to see how much impact the camp made on the first years and we truly believe that what the students gained from the camp will set them up well for the remainder of their degree.”
“Thank you so much to the School for your support of this initiative. We honestly could not have done it without you and are incredibly grateful for both your qualitative and financial support.
“Thank you also to Nasser [incoming Head of School Professor Nasser Kahlili] for coming all the way down to Wombaroo despite your busy schedule to speak to the first years. It meant a lot to us and to them.“
